Hold Up, "Weight" a Minute!

Lately I have been addressed more than a few times about the topic of weight loss, and I wanted to “weigh in” with my thoughts and feelings on the matter. Since this is not a simple topic, nor one that is the same for everyone, I decided that it was time to offer some clarity on the issues so many are facing with regard to feeling stuck and not being able to get to where they want to be.

First, I want to clarify that being thin doesn't mean healthy. I speak from personal experience when I say this because for a long period of time, up until very recently, I was unable to keep weight on at all and seemed to continue to lose no matter how hard I tried. My body just wasn't able to absorb nutrients or vitamins regardless of the many ways I tried to incorporate them. I tried countless sources. I was working with the best doctors, I was eating all of the right things so what was I missing? I wasn't healthy inside, no matter how healthy my body appeared to be on the outside.

It wasn't until I started to work on myself, and started to really dig deep, that I realized something very big was missing. Self prioritization. It may not seem like a critical facet of health or something that could make or break any weight issues that are lingering, but let me tell you that IT IS! When I say self prioritization, I am not just talking about a healthy diet or a positive attitude. Yes, those things are important pieces to the puzzle, but they alone won't get you where you want to be. I am talking about balance, and taking the steps to make yourself and your health a priority.

So what I am referring to and how does this relate to weight? I am talking about having compassion for yourself and your body. I am talking about accepting where you are and loving yourself, just as you are, despite any obstacles or pain. Instead of constantly running away from what we are feeling, actually sitting with it and FULLY feeling it. Being completely present in the now, we can gain clarity and obtain complete healing. It is only in the “now” that life is happening so why are we living in the past or the future?

Often times when we are stuck in a particular area such as not being able to lose the weight, or in my case, maintain a healthy weight, there are deeper issues that need to be addressed. Healing doesn't come from dieting. Healing doesn't come from this supplement or that drug. Healing doesn't come from pushing away what is, just because it is uncomfortable. Healing comes from listening to our bodies and loving our journey in such a way that we have no choice but to feel gratitude for every breath that we take. Healing happens in the now. When we are in the present moment we start to heal and can overcome any obstacle.

As for me, I am finally able to maintain a healthy weight and just this week got the "thumbs up" from all of my doctors regarding my progress. Healing is happening for me on all levels. As with anything, it takes time, and dedication and love…..oh so much love. If you are feeling stuck and really need someone to guide, support, and help you find your way through, please reach out to me. I’d love nothing more than to help you live the life you dream of, in the healthy body you imagine for yourself. It’s right there..., waiting patiently for you to come and grab it!

Love and Blessings always….XO
